Start your mid-coast Maine adventure here! This cozy cottage marks the gateway to the historic Victorian-style seaside community of Bayside, in Northport, Maine. The Gatehouse is situated at the edge of a charming village, with ocean views and nearby beach access. Bring your kayak, bike & hiking boots to enjoy the area’s natural wonders… a stone’s throw from Camden Hills State Park and a quick trip up to Acadia. Walking distance to golf or the village swimming dock & classic Maine rocky beach.
About this space
The Gatehouse is a cozy, welcoming space, with an open floor plan downstairs and half bath with laundry. Up a small spiral staircase, you will find two private bedrooms and a full bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a small balcony where you can sit out and enjoy the stars at night or muse with your coffee in the morning. This cottage has a homey feel with its bright yellow kitchen, wooden-shuttered windows & comfy furniture. There is a lovely patio out back that gets great afternoon sunshine for grilling & cocktails. Summer in Bayside is the true essence of relaxation, but the shoulder seasons have much to offer as well, as gardens burst with color and the area quiets down a bit from peak season (July/August).

Other things to note
Bayside is a unique seaside village filled with friendly people, open green spaces, quaint cottages & colorful gardens.
That said, Maine can also be a rugged place! Our local beaches are ROCKY (though 3 miles south you will find a public sandy beach in Lincolnville if that’s your thing). In May & June you may meet a few black flies & Brown Tail moth caterpillars. In all seasons, along with staggering beauty, you may experience forceful storms that can knock out the power. Additionally, many of Bayside’s cottages have been here since the 1800’s, so please bear in mind you may find the village & cottage space quirky and/or different from where you live. This is part of its charm!
Best to be ready for adventure! Fear not, though. The beauty & tranquility of Bayside far outweigh these occasional discomforts. Come and see for yourself!

Going upstairs brings you to the “Maine” bedroom. One large bedroom with great closet space and it’s own full bathroom. A Romeo and Juliet balcony for the lucky two who get to enjoy this room. A vacation full of sunrises and sunsets! A new king sized mattress will be added in spring of 2023.
An expansive wraparound porch offers a ringside seat for watching sailboat races, seabirds, seals and sunrises. Convenient to Belfast, Lincolnville Beach and Camden, this cozy coastal retreat could be your seaside haven.
